Assessment Information
Following the issue of the Spring Term 2010 reports, it appears that further clarification is needed about the school's assessment arrangements and in particular the way in which the Nfer scores and attainment levels are presented. A summary of the Assessment & Target Setting slideshow which formed the basis of this year's Information Evening in September can be viewed by clicking here.
Below is an added explanation of the Nfer percentile ranking system, which should be read in conjunction with the covering letter sent home with the reports:
A child scoring a ranking of 50 means that out of 100 children nationally (who are of the same age on the day of the test) this child would score higher than 50 of them. A ranking of 50 therefore does not mean the child only managed to get 50% of the paper correct. Indeed, their raw score could be much higher than 50% of the actual paper, yet their percentile ranking could still be at 50 (as a national comparison with children of a similar age).
