Mayor of Croydon Visit

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Croydon, Toni Letts to Oakwood on Friday 9 March, where she gave an excellent talk to the Junior children about her role as the Mayor. There was an opportunity for a question and answer session in which the children asked about about her career aspirations as a child, what you have to do to become the Mayor, what she likes most about the job and how many links in the Mayor’s chain – to name a few.

We received a lovely letter from the Mayor after her visit and we were touched by her words to us.

“After my talk about the role of Mayor in a London Borough, I was impressed by the quality of their questions to me which showed the school had a strong academic and a positive learning environment with a great sense of community. The students showed an intellect beyond their years, together with a discipline and a true understanding of Christian values all which greatly impressed me.”
