ISI Inspection Report

Oakwood School is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).


Oakwood School was awarded “Excellent”, the highest possible ranking, in the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate) inspection report which was published in February 2017.


The EQI (Educational Quality Inspection) focuses on two key outcomes:


  • The achievement of pupils, including their academic development
  • The personal development of pupils.


Inspectors highlighted the school’s high academic standards and wide ranging achievements in and out of the classroom, as well as the partnership with parents and character development programme.


The FCI (Focused Compliance Inspection) recognised that the school met all the current regulatory requirements.

The independent judgments on Oakwood School included:


The quality of the pupils' academic and other achievements are excellent.


  • Pupils progress well and reach high standards by the time they leave.
  • Pupils read with understanding, write interestingly and accurately, and confidently manipulate numbers.
  • Pupils achieve highly across a wide range of activities, in and out of the classroom.
  • Attitudes to learning are extremely positive and this underlies pupils' high achievement.


 The quality of the pupils' personal development excellent.


  • Pupils espouse and apply the 'virtues' that are explored within the character development programme.
  • They have a strong sense of responsibility towards others and the community.
  • They collaborate well, display mutual respect.
