Character Development

Character is what we make of ourselves and the unique Character Development programme at Oakwood School gives children the tools to fulfil their true potential and to become the best possible version of themselves.

Each class has a weekly Character Development (CD) lesson, centred around a particular virtue which permeates all areas of school life that half term. Inspectors have commented that this teaching on, for example: fortitude, responsibility, resilience, kindness – underpins our children’s success across the curriculum and wider school life. For older children, our individual tutorial system – operated in close partnership with parents - serves to personalise CD lessons, by helping each child individually to formulate their own resolutions and put them into practice.
