Working with Parents

A Service to Parents

Choosing the right education for your child will be one of the most important factors influencing both their future academic success and the development of an upright character. A first school is, therefore, something that must be properly considered and chosen with great care.

At Oakwood we recognise parents as the primary educators of their child and seek to support this as effective educators and working together for the overall development of the children.

Involving Parents

Oakwood recognises that parents are the first educators of their children.

Through a system of education which is personalised, we seek to integrate the pursuit of academic excellence, the acquisition of skills and the development of the pupil’s character.

Oakwood is a family school, where the educational rights of the family effectively come first. The school seeks to assist parents to be more effective educators of their children and to provide for the overall development of the pupils.

Oakwood teachers and staff are vital partners with parents in each child’s education. The basis of this partnership is a loyal and mutual understanding of each other’s complementary roles.

The Tutorial System ensures that each child is helped to be the best person they can be. It facilitates the partnership between parents and school which is the only way to ensure children receive an holistic and effective education. This Tutorial System personalises our unique Character Development Programme, helping each child apply what they learn directly to their own lives.

Pact Educational Trust

Whilst Oakwood was the first project of PACT Educational Trust, the vision was always to provide education from 4 - 18 years. In 2012 we opened our boys' and girls' senior schools to complement the educational provision that had begun at Oakwood.

The Cedars School for Boys and The Laurels School for Girls started life in Croydon and in Clapham; however in 2021 our Estates Strategy finally came together and both schools are now co-located in Crystal Palace, on the same site as  Oakwood. This means that children can move from our prep school to the relevant single-sex senior school and that families are all educated on the same campus.
